You know that song by Abba? Money, money, money! Must be funny! In a rich man's world. Well, let me tell you, for someone attending one of the most EXPENSIVE universities in the country (and quite possibly, world), I am not living a rich man's life! Money, money, money. It's so NOT funny, in my college world.
As you all know, money is stressful. However, I never realized how much of a difficult task it is to manage money! People are always inviting me to go shopping or go out for yogurt or eat food not from the dining halls. The urge to say yes is so hard to fight! But I have been able to control that urge.. for the most part.
I'm sure this is surprising and impressive to most of you! Except to you, Mom, because you know that I spent quite a bit of money this last week. To be fair, though, it was all essentials! Let me just clear this up for all of you... my tuition, room, and board is approximately $63,000 a year. On top of that, I have to pay $115 for insurance (just in case I damage equipment rented from Tisch) AND buy two hard drives (that generally are impossible to find for less than $150) for editing. I just did both of those things within the last week. Plus, got some sweaters because it's getting CHILLY! So, I guess you can say my life is just expensive.
Man, it's so stressful sometimes. HOWEVER! I am trying to compensate for my expensive existence. I babysit for Patrick and Hiro. AND I am now running a business (of sorts) selling hats and scarves to cold people that I know! (: I'm working on flyers to put up soon! (Once midterms pass!) So, I guess things aren't that bad monetary-wise. I mean, hey, it's not like I'm broke! Just cheap! (;
I guess college is forcing me to be frugal and conservative. And I guess I should have no qualms about that.
I'm sure I'll find another thing to complain/brag about soon! So, until then!
(This is me in my "it's getting cold!" attire. I'm trudging through, guise.)
Hasta la pasta, sugarplums! (:

I am proud of you Karli....... things are difficult, but we will prevail (meaning you, me and Dad) : ) Hang in there and don't stress. You have my permission to go out and splurge on a good meal!!!! Love you Madre
